RAIN ride with James. Averaged 19.5 MPH. Ride time: 8:22. Finished 525th out of 1,297. Felt strong and felt good at the finish.

Below are pictures from the Ride Across Indiana on July 12, 2008, as well as my stats. I rode solo this year as James was sick. The rain poured for the first 40 miles or so, then it was very hot and humid (somewhere in the 90's), with a cross wind from the south for most of the day.

Despite harder conditions than last year (and riding solo), I cut 35 minutes off of my time and moved up 360 places-finishing 494 out of the 911 who managed to finish. I'm not sure how many did not finish, but it was several hundred at least (there were a lot of riders collapsed in the shade on the side of the road and at the rest stops).

My legs felt good for the entire ride, but the heat was rough and slowed me down a lot the last 40 miles or so. I also started to get saddle sore the last 30 miles or so, but you don't want to hear about that.....
